🍂📚 Tips for Families: Supporting Reading at Home (PreK–3rd Grade) |
Reading every day helps build strong language, vocabulary, and comprehension skills! Here are a few simple ways to support your young reader at home:
1. Read together daily Set aside 10–15 minutes each day for reading. Let your child choose books they enjoy — even if it’s the same one over and over!
2. Talk about the story
Ask questions like “What happened first?” or “Why do you think the character did that?” to help your child think deeply about what they read.
3. Point out words and letters Practice recognizing letters, sounds, and sight words during reading or even around the house (on signs, cereal boxes, or labels).
