April is Autism Acceptance Month!

Play

Autism Acceptance Month happens every April. It used to be called Autism Awareness Month, but in 2021 the name changed to focus on acceptance. The goal is to include everyone, celebrate differences in how people think, and help people understand autism better. World Autism Awareness Day is on April 2.

How to Support Student Learning at Home

The AASA is Arizona’s statewide achievement test for students in Grades 3-8. This important assessment helps us evaluate student progress and growth while providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of our educational programs.

AASA testing has started.

Here are a few ways you can support your child for the assessments:

Make sure your child comes to school every day, on time, and ready to take their tests.

Encourage your child to get a full 8–10 hours of sleep each night to support their health and learning.

Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast every morning. Students enrolled in the Roosevelt School District receive one free breakfast each day.🍎Click the Breakfast Times link to check your child’s school breakfast time : School Breakfast Times

We encourage you to avoid checking your child out of school early. Once students begin a test, they are not able to pause  and return to it later, which may negatively impact their score.

Reassure your child that you believe in their abilities and are proud of their effort.

Attendance Matters

Play

Your child's attendance matters. Going to school every day is very important for your child to do well in class all year, even in the last months.

Missing just two days each month can add up and lead to chronic absence. This can make it harder for children to learn to read by third grade, lower their test scores, and increase the chance of dropping out of high school later.
