March is National Nutrition Month!

Play

March is National Nutrition Month. During this month, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages everyone to make healthy food choices and build good eating and physical activity habits that they can practice all year long.

Healthy eating plays an important role in your child’s growth and development. Nutritious meals give children the energy to learn, play, and stay focused throughout the day. By encouraging healthy food choices at home, you are helping your child build habits that support both their physical health and academic success.

How to Support Student Learning at Home

The AASA is Arizona’s statewide achievement test for students in Grades 3-8. This important assessment helps us evaluate student progress and growth while providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of our educational programs.

AASA Testing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 31st.

Here are a few ways you can support your child in preparing for the upcoming assessment:

Ensure your child attends school every day, on time, and ready to learn.

Encourage your child to get a full 8–10 hours of sleep each night to support their health and learning.

Encourage your child to spend 30 minutes each day on IXL to build confidence and strengthen essential skills.

Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast every morning. Students enrolled in the Roosevelt School District receive one free breakfast each day. Please check with your child’s school for serving times.

We encourage you to avoid checking your child out of school early. Once students begin a test, they are not able to pause  and return to it later, which may negatively impact their score.

Reassure your child that you believe in their abilities and are proud of their effort.
